History of sparkford sawmills

Having been in the sawmilling industry since 1947 Sparkford Sawmills was purchased by the Minto family in 1971 and became the first fully automated Sawmill in the country, cutting timber and manufacturing quality fencing and gates.

Bryan Minto became Managing Director in 1983 having gained experience in the timber business in the North and West of England.

Under Bryan’s leadership the business has evolved and diversified, incorporating a joinery department and design team. The greater part of the business is now manufacturing bespoke timber products for delivery or erection throughout the United Kingdom and Channel Islands.

Remaining one of the few manufacturers who can take timber “in the round”, process it though the sawmill and prepare it for use in our own joinery shop you can be assured that your project will receive personal care and attention at every stage.
